Who We Are.

The Association of Faculty and Friends (AFF) of the Penn State Milton S. Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine is a non-profit organization with a mission to support and promote medical education, research, clinical care and scholarship; provide a community of friendship to our members through interest groups; and to serve the needs of the community of which we are a part.

The AFF engages in charitable activities in support of these goals.

Founded in 1968, the AFF has a rich history of support through its activities in the community. There are currently 200 members representing the community as well as faculty, staff and administration at the Penn State Hershey Medical Center and Penn State College of Medicine. The major fund raising activities include the Peace Tree and the annual Spring Luncheon and Fashion Show.

Funds that have been raised through the efforts of the AFF have been given in support of programs including: 

  • Scholarships and Loans for Medical and Graduate Students
  • Research
  • Palliative Care
  • Medical Student Humanitarian Award
  • Community Health Library
  • Children’s Programs
  • Chapel
  • Meditation Garden
  • Lion Care – a student run program for the medically underserved
